CheckMySkills is proud to announce the J.J. Allen Scholarship Fund
Glendale, NY - May 28, 2009 - CheckMySkills(CMS) On December 31st 2003 we lost a friend, a teammate, and a brother at the early age of 28 years old to brain cancer. J.J stood for what every man should strive to be, and we will never forget the good times and what he meant to each and every one of us.
"He was the best we ever had, as a person and a player," said Marist head football coach Jim Parady. "He was tremendous, there are not many like him."
J.J. spent three years at Marist College, 1996-99, after spending his freshman year at Howard University. His impact far exceeded his great successes on the football field. Over the course of his three years he was always among the first to volunteer his time to the local community. He spent countless hours working with local youth organizations, and was always the first to volunteer for an event that involved working with others. (Marist)
Allen also had great success as a member of the Red Foxes football program, placing his name into the record books in numerous categories. For his career, 30 games, he carried the ball 597 times for 3,015 yards, the third highest career total in program history. J.J. has 41 career touchdowns, and helped Marist to 20 wins in his three seasons. Allen was the heart and soul of the 1998 squad, a season in which he set single-season school records with 278 carries, 1,623 yards, 21 touchdowns and scoring with 126 points. (Marist)
Web Based Sports Solutions will be holding the Inaugural JJ Allen Scholarship Golf Outing Fundraiser on July 31, 2009 at the Clearview Park Golf Course in Queens, NY. Go to the jjallenfoundation.org for more information and to support J.J. Allen.
