Cover Letter Tips
checkmyskills
  • Keep it short - one page only.
  • Read, edit & RE-READ looking for typos - ask someone to proof it.
  • Be confident, but DON’T exaggerate, brag or lie.
  • Don’t repeat yourself…If the information is already in your resume do not repeat it in your cover letter. Instead it should offer more insight to what your resume does not say. The reader already has your resume; the cover letter should add to it, not repeat it.
  • What can you do for me? Don’t discuss why you need the job…Discuss what you can do for them. Cover letter should focus on the company’s needs and how you can fulfill them, not what the company can do for you.
